Tips To Keep Food From Sticking
If you already own stainless steel cookware and it tends to stick, here are some tips to help remedy that:
— Remove the chill from the food because cold food sticks to a hot pan. Food from the fridge should warm gently before cooking
— Heat the pan first using medium heat because the pan retains this heat until you start cooking. Do not use high heat because the pan may become too hot. In addition, check if the pan is preheated by using butter. If the butter bubbles briskly but does not turn brown, then you know that your pan is hot enough. If the pan is too hot, cool it first before proceeding with cooking
— Avoid aerosol cooking sprays because they contain a chemical propellant that is difficult to remove. The alternative is to use an oil mister with vegetable or olive oil
— Use less oil during cooking with non-stick pans. Some oil and enough preheating works well
— Cook with medium heat because these pans are energy efficient. High heat increases the probability of food sticking to the pan
— Allow room for food to cook. Filling the pan lowers the temperature of the pan and causes the food to stick and not cook evenly
— Keep the cookware clean and remove remains from earlier cooking sessions. The also prevents food from sticking.
Most stainless steel cookware is dishwasher safe but hand washing is commendable in order to preserve its shine. Wash the utensils in hot water and a liquid detergent. You can use a sponge or other material that does not scratch the cookware.
